EYEBALL2D

Day Job is an animated documentary that follows the lives of the over-qualified young staff of a dingy local bowling alley. This group of aspiring filmmakers and performers, work their Day Job as they struggle to gain a footing in their industry. Day Job, was previously supported through ABC and Screen Australia’s ‘Fresh Blood’ Initiative.

 

Paul Georghiou, Eyeball2d, is a seasoned animator with experience as Episodic director & storyboarder on Smiling Friends. He was also an animator on Koala Man, Solar Opposites & YOLO.

Challenges

Following Day Job's ABC and Screen Australia’s ‘Fresh Blood’ Grant Initiative, Eyeball2d would like to release a season of Day Job. Currently reliant on Patreon, Eyeball2d aims to raise funds to complete further episodes.

Key tasks included:

 

  • Audience engagement: Whilst episodes are in production, Eyeball2d aimed to maintain audience engagement.

 

  • Lack of Unified Brand Identity: Day Job's online presence was split between Eyeball2d and Day Job's social media, making a unified audience difficult to form.

​

  • Episode Funding: To continue funding the new episodes, Eyeball2d aimed to increase Patreon support.

​

  • Allocation of Tasks & Budget: Eyeball2d whilst managing teams of other creators, wanted production assistance on how to balance creative output with audience engagement. 

Solution

Astri Studio collaborated closely with Eyeball2d to identify methods of engaging the audience for Patreon and social media releases. Key steps included:

1. Branding & Visual Identity

  • Developed a distinct, professional brand identity with a cohesive color palette, copywriting tonal style and assets. 

  • Created promotional graphics that reflected the studio’s unique artistic style, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials.

​

2. Strengthening Online Presence & Engagement

  • Designed a content calendar tailored to maximise engagement.

  • Provided Audience insight and feedback on posts to boost organic reach through behind-the-scenes videos, and interactive audience engagement initiatives.

​

3. Production and Budget Allocation Assistance

  • Provided general business advice and consulting.

  • Allocated tasks for production at weekly touchpooints.

  • Offered feedback on social media engagement

Outcomes

Since collaborating with Astri Studio from end of November 2024:

  • Day Job Re-release Views: 189k+ (as of March 21, 2025, released January 27, 2025)

  • Social Media Growth:

    • Instagram: 10.8K followers

    • TikTok: 13.9K followers

    • Twitter: 25.9K followers

  • Total Audience Growth: 18K+ across all platforms
